But the screws were way too long for typical 3/4 thick doors/drawer fronts. at least they are standard inch sizes, so not too bad to get shorter ones

I absolutely love the pulls. I would recommend buying new screws right away, even if they seem to be the right length. The screw holes are not straight and you end up getting very frustrated. Once we got new screws, the assembly got much faster.
